AdoptIDee (NL) aims to innovate the way essential soft skills of the 21st century are embedded in schooling while offering an original approach to inspire innovation in companies.  AdoptIDee started in NL, where we ran 5 successful editions in different cities. Stichting AdoptIdee is now an independent foundation, and is aiming for further international expansion. Scientific background of this original approach lies in the proven fact that children are often more creative than adults.

AdoptIDee builds on that and challenges children from age 10-12 years to think about ‘real’ innovation challenges of companies. On the basis of a problem formulated by participating companies, students in small groups devise a solution and develop this into a concept. Students thereby inspire entrepreneurs to find creative solutions for their problems and entrepreneurs contribute in a playful way to educate employees of the future. A win-win situation!

The next step is to facilitate widespread implementation (both nationally and internationally) and have a broader
international impact. To achieve this, we need to work on different elements, including: refinement of the content, digitalizing
the entire package and program, development of a train-the-trainer package, adapt and translate the approach as well as
learning materials to different context and languages.

IDP (I) – a consultancy specialized in setting-up training projects – and Innovalley (I) – a regional social and industrial innovation hub and incubator in the regional Abruzzo in Italy – endorse the AdoptIdee concept and aims to implement the project in the Abruzzo region. This will allow us to learn how the concept needs to be adapted to different school-systems, cultural and linguistical context, and validate to what extent we can
replicate AdoptIdee to other countries.

Our AdoptID (the new, international name) OBJECTIVES are:
1.To internationalize (starting with Italy) which requires translation into another language, and the incorporation of cultural
and country-specific aspects;
2.To translate and adapt the materials to closely align our project to current existing educational contexts and learning
objectives in IT and NL;
3.To digitalize the program to facilitate a digital learning environment for students to enable widespread upscaling.
AdoptID contributes to stimulating creativity as an innovative learning approach.

The aim is to stimulate 21st century skills such as design/solution thinking, problem solving and project-based-working, at a very early stage through education. We address digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience, literacy and capacity by providing students with a digital learning environment.
